Most people who hire campervans or motorhomes for travelling around the landlocked country of Malawi do so in the dry season which is May to November as there is little to no fun in driving in the pouring rain which is November to May.

Malawi is a country of contrasts in that where the Shire River joins the border with Mozambique it is barely 37 metres above sea level whilst the highest point in the country is Sapitwa, the highest peak on the Mulanje Mountain which stands at 3,002 metres above.

The climate here is sub-tropical and the terrain comprises of a few mountains here and there, lots of rolling plains and rounded hills, and of course, Lake Malawi which is approximately 580 KMs long (362 miles) is ideal for touring with your hired campervan or motorhome.

Visitors to Malawi should know that this country is one of the poorest and least developed in Africa. It has a population of circa 13 million and a literacy rate of roughly 60%.

The main income for this country lies in agriculture and the growing of tobacco which represents over 60% of its exports.

There is no doubt that you will really enjoy your trip to Malawi and if you hire a campervan or motorhome it is possible that you may even pop into neighbouring Zambia or Mozambique on your tour.
