Take a tour through the counrtyside in Portugal when you hire a luxury campervan, motorhome or RV
One of several great money saving factors to take into consideration when you hire a campervan is that eating is cheap; you simply pop into the local supermarket, pick up what you want and you can still have a 5* meal (if you cook better than I do that is).
Another is that your nights' lodgings are similarly cheaper than B&B or an hotel as the most you will pay is a few €'s if you stay in a park and have electric hook up, so by any standards that is cheap living.
And nor do you get bored either as you can meander from just above Braga in the north, right down the scenic coast route past Sintra and Lisbon and down the Algarve coast. Portugal is a country with a rich history of seafaring and discovery which looks out from the Iberian Peninsula onto the Atlantic Ocean.
Go south from there and you reach Portimao, Loule, Faro and the Portuguese/Spanish border. In effect, most people who hire a campervan will be doing this route in reverse as one of the main pick up points is near to Faro airport.
During the June, festivities dedicated to three saints known as Santos Populares, or the popular saints, take place all over the country. They are characterised by folk dancing and music, particularly the traditional melancholy Fado.
Each region ofthe country has it's own traditional dishes made with various kinds of meat and seafood. Not only that, but Portugal is particularly well known for its one hundred ways of cooking cod. Wow, and I only know three of them!
