There are so many campervan and motorhome hire pick up points divided between those on North Island and South Island in New Zealand that we are concentrating on the busiest first, and those are Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown Airport. We shall list the others in due course but those three are where the bulk of our customers fly to.
Christchurch, on South Island, is one of the most popular pickup points, and this is a good a place to start as it comes as it lies slap bang on the beach, more or less that is. Of course that brings to mind things such as surfing, all manner of watersports and fishing.
Fishing off the New Zealand coast is simply superb and you can catch virtually anything in those seas which are teeming with aquatic life of all shapes and sizes.
The warmest months are December, January and February, and the coldest June, July and August. In summer, the average maximum temperature ranges between 20 - 30șC and in winter between 10 - 15șC in the inland forests of South Island.
It rains in New Zealand and that is why the countryside is so green, but in the summer months it dries up quickly and people simple carry on as if nothing has happened, after all, rain makes the New Zealand economy go round as a great many of the inhabitants find their employment is to do with the land either in crop growing or animal husbandry.
Being an island New Zealand boasts fabulous shorelines and beaches, and whilst driving your hire vehicle from Christchurch you may notice that the roads are totally uncluttered and as different as chalk is to cheese from our own in the UK.
So we hope your stay in New Zealand will be something you can look back upon fondly after your experiences touring the country in your hired motorhome and turning your dreams into reality.
